To carry over from Susan was saying in the other thread about hubby liking her cooking...
I'm lucky, I come from a long line of good cooks. I can eat mac & cheese from the box, but I certainly do enjoy the homemade stuff better. The only canned veggie I like is green beans. Anytime my dd goes to someone else's house and eats, she appreciates my cooking all the more. |

We're having halibut tonight.
When I was at Costco yesterday I bought a big bag of potato rolls, they're flatter and rounder than usual and make great little mini sammiches. I made the mister little breakfast sandwiches this morning with them and he was in heaven. |

I had bow tie pasta with mushroom, broccoli, and onion sauce for lunch. "Eclair" canoli for dessert... omg it was to DIE for!

I make a copycat version of this yummy dish at a local restaurant here. It's called "Old Mac".
It's basically mac & cheese with alfredo sauce but I put a ton of garlic and parmesan in it. Melt a stick of butter, several cloves of chopped garlic a few tablespoons of creamed cheese and a few tablespoons of flour when it starts to bubble add a little carton of Heavy Whipping cream. Put a pot of Rigate macaroni on to boil Stir the sauce constantly when the whipping cream is heated up add a handful or two of fresh grated parmesan cheese in. It'll thicken up and be perfect about the same time your noodles are done. Drain noodles, poor sauce over them and mix and then add another handful or two of parmesan cheese. It's rich, and really fattening, but it's to DIE FOR!! salt and pepper to taste, of course. |

Am I the only one who doesn't like the boxed mac and cheese. It just tastes fake to me. And it isn't that hard to make real mac and cheese.
As far as canned veggies, there is only one I like and only for salads. That's canned asparagus. If I'm going to eat it as a side dish, I prefer fresh. My favorite cooked veggie though is carrots. I cook them in straight butter with about 2 tsps of water. No sugar of any kind added and they are sweet as can be. |

I have the boxed stuff as a stand-by for the cali-kid, egulch. I personally prefer made from scratch mac-n-cheese, Patti LaBelle's recipe...

The only kind of carrots I like are raw with some ranch. I cannot stand them cooked.
Right now we're eating fresh green beans out of the garden. Man are they good. Especially with a walla walla sweet and some bacon thrown in. |

To me Kraft Dinner is on par with stuff like Hostess cupcakes (and dare I say it, Twinkies..
...though I don't really like those). It's a childhood taste that either sticks with you or it doesn't, even if you have developed a finer palette in the meantime.
